I VISITED MY GRANDMOTHER UNANNOUNCED ONLY TO MEET MY LATE MOTHER WATERING HER FARM
PART 3
he moment I heard my mother’s voice, tears rolled down my cheeks uncontrollably. The church elders surrounded me and continued praying louder than before. Some spoke in tongues while others held my hands tightly as if they knew the darkness surrounding my family was fighting back.
Suddenly, the lights inside the church began flickering.
A violent wind pushed against the windows, and one of the elders shouted, “The spirits are resisting!”
Fear gripped my heart, but this time I refused to run.
“I want my mother free,” I cried. “No matter what it takes!”
The prophet stood up and lifted his Bible high.
“No evil lasts forever,” he declared. “Tonight every trapped soul shall be released!”
The entire church erupted in prayer. The atmosphere felt powerful, almost like thunder shaking the room. Then, without warning, I saw a vision of my grandmother’s farm. The dry ground cracked open, and shadowy figures began rising from the fields. They looked weak and exhausted, like people who had suffered for years.
Among them was my mother.
But this time she was no longer wearing torn clothes.
Light slowly surrounded her while the chains around her wrists broke apart one by one. She lifted her head and smiled at me for the first time since her death.
“My daughter,” she said softly, “thank you for not abandoning me.”
I fell to my knees crying.
At that exact moment, my grandmother collapsed back in the village. Later we were told neighbors found her unconscious beside the farm, screaming for the spirits to return. But they never did. Every trapped soul had been released that night.
The following morning, the prophet and church elders traveled with me to the village. When we reached the farm, the place looked completely different. The dark feeling was gone. The trees no longer seemed frightening, and the strange whispers had disappeared.
My grandmother sat quietly outside her hut looking weak and broken. For the first time in her life, she admitted the truth. She confessed that she had used dark powers for many years because she feared poverty and loneliness. But the power eventually consumed her life and destroyed her family.
I expected to hate her forever.
Instead, I simply felt sad.
The prophet prayed for her, and she broke down crying like a child. She begged God and our family for forgiveness. Though the pain she caused could never fully disappear, we chose to leave vengeance behind.
A few weeks later, we held a peaceful memorial service for my mother. This time, it felt different. The air felt light. Calm.
That night, I dreamed of my mother standing in a beautiful field filled with sunlight. She looked healthy, happy, and free.
Before walking away, she smiled warmly and said,
“I can finally rest now.”
